FAQ
Do kids need prior experience?
No experience needed at all – all classes welcome complete beginners!
What if my child is shy or anxious?
You are in exactly the right place! So many of our students walked through the door feeling nervous, shy or unsure – and that’s completely okay. At Evoke, we move at every child’s pace. There is no pressure to perform before your child feels ready, and our warm, nurturing environment means kids quickly feel safe, supported and accepted for exactly who they are. Building confidence in shy and anxious children is actually one of the things we do best – and watching that transformation happen is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
What if my child wants to try it but isn't sure?
That’s exactly what our free trial is for! Your child’s trial class is completely free with no obligation and no pressure. It’s a chance for them to come along, meet the other kids, have a go and see if Evoke feels like home. Most kids leave their first class not wanting it to end – but if it’s not the right fit, that’s okay too. Get in touch to book your free trial today!
How do I book a free trial class?
You can either book directly through our online booking system using the button below, or reach out to us via email at admin@evokeperformingarts.com.au and we’ll get it sorted for you. We’d love to welcome your child to Evoke!
How much do classes cost?
Please visit each individual class page for current term fees. You can also trial a class for FREE before committing to the term!
How do I enrol?
Enrolment is quick and easy through our online booking system. Simply click the enrol button on the class you’re interested in and follow the prompts – it only takes a few minutes! Not ready to commit to a full term yet? We encourage all new families to book a free trial class first so your child can come along, have a go, and see if Evoke feels like home before signing up.
Can parents watch classes?
For our younger classes (Bright Beginners and Developing Dramatics), parents are welcome to watch! For our older classes (Funky Freshies and Upbeat Up-and-Comers), we find students thrive and feel more confident when they have their own space to explore and take risks without an audience. Don’t worry though – you’ll get to see all that hard work pay off at the end of year performance!
Is there a uniform requirement?
Yes! All Evoke students wear the official Evoke t-shirt to every class. The cost of the t-shirt is included in the annual admin and t-shirt fee, so there are no surprise extras. We love seeing our students arrive ready to go in their Evoke gear!
What if my child is between age groups?
We have flexible age ranges – get in touch and we’ll find the best fit for your child.
How long is each class?
Class duration varies depending on the age group. Head to each individual class page to find the full details including times, duration and day.
Can my child join mid-term?
Absolutely – new students are always welcome! Joining mid-term works especially well earlier in the term before we begin rehearsing for our end of year show. Get in touch and we’ll let you know the best time for your child to jump in!
What skills will my child learn?
So much more than just singing, dancing and acting! At Evoke, students develop a rich set of skills both on and off the stage including performance skills, public speaking, confidence, emotional regulation, empathy, teamwork, resilience, a growth mindset and social skills. These are life skills that will serve your child in the classroom, in friendships, and far beyond their time at Evoke.
Where are classes held?
Classes are held at Our Lady of Fatima, Palmyra WA. For the safety of our students, the exact meeting point within the grounds is provided after enrolment or once a free trial has been booked.
What happens at the end of year performance?
Every year Evoke students perform in a real theatrical production – on a proper stage, in a real theatre, with professional sound, lighting, costumes and a live audience. Our younger classes perform a mini musical or play, while our older classes take on a full musical production. It’s an unforgettable experience and honestly one of the highlights of the year for kids and families alike!
Will my child have to audition for the performance?
For our two older classes, students do audition for roles in the end of year performance – but don’t let that word scare you! Every single student receives a role. Our auditions are a wonderful opportunity for students to practise a real-world performance skill, show their teachers something they might not have seen in class, and experiment in a safe and supportive environment. Think of it less as a nerve-wracking audition and more as a chance to shine!
How is Evoke different from other performing arts schools?
Honestly? We care about so much more than performance. Of course we love helping kids grow into confident, talented performers – but what really lights us up is seeing the whole child thrive. At Evoke, our unique blend of performing arts and psychology means every class is thoughtfully designed to build confidence, emotional wellbeing, resilience and a real sense of belonging. With a genuinely warm environment, and a passion for every single student – we’d love for you to come and experience Evoke for yourself!
What is the psychology approach and how does it work in class?
Psychology underpins everything we do at Evoke – from the way we plan and structure each class, to how we build rapport with students, organise groups, and approach every interaction. Rather than treating performing arts as purely a performance skill, we draw on psychological principles to help children understand their emotions, develop genuine resilience, and build meaningful connections with their classmates. It’s a holistic approach that allows Evoke to be uniquely positioned in the Perth performing arts space!
